First Half 2019 Results Summary
- A total of $103.2M was raised, a 41% decrease from the same period last year (H1 2018)
- The activity of fundings have increased with 19 offerings recorded, a 217% increase when compared to H1 2018
- Despite activity levels, the average deal size has fallen to $5.4m, an 81% decrease from H1 2018
- There have been 74 offerings announced to date, with 46 announced in the first half of 2019, representing 62% of the total announced offerings over time
Whilst deal size is coming in relatively low, more offerings have been announced in this first half year than ever before. This is attributed to the evolution of the security token ecosystem, from respective regulatory guidelines being announced, secondary market developments and an increased number of market participants, especially issuance platforms who are playing a role in pushing the barrier of entry lower for issuers. What to watch in the second half of 2019 is if the momentum of activity can be sustained and if deal sizes surpass those recorded in 2018 (~$28m avg deal size).
Announced offerings are classified as those who have reported a commencement date. Funded amounts were converted into USD at the prevailing exchange rate at the time the sale closed.
